NIP/TUCK, HOWARD, AND BANANA CREAM CHEESECAKE

YESTERDAY WAS EXCITING, AND SCARY AND THRILLING ALL AT ONCE. MY CALL TIME WAS 9 30 AM, AND I LEFT EARLY AND GOT THERE AN HOUR EARLY SO I MADE SOME STOPS ALONG THE WAY…TO STALL FOR TIME. THEY BROUGHT ME TO MY OWN TRAILER, WHICH HAD A TV/CD/DVD/STEREO, FRIDGE, MICROWAVE AND ALL IMPORTANT BATHROOM…AND MY WARDROBE. I WAS THEN ESCORTED TO MAKEUP, WHERE SHE DID IT BEAUTIFULLY, UNDERSTATED EXCEPT FOR BRIGHT RED LIPSTICK, AS I WAS WEARING ALL BLACK..AND 4 INCH HEELS, WHICH THANKFULLY I DIDN’T HAVE TO WALK IN. NEXT, THE SWEET HAIR HELPER HELPED CURL MY HAIR AND WE TALKED AT LENGTH…

THEN IT WAS REHEARSAL TIME, WHERE I MET EVERYONE!! AND THEY ANNOUNCED MY PRESENCE AND THEY ALL CLAPPED AND WELCOMED ME. THE ACTOR PLAYING DR. CHRISTIAN TROY, JULIAN IN REAL LIFE, COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE CHARMING AND FUNNY… THAT IMMEDIATELY PUT ME AT EASE, AND THE ACTRESS PLAYING KIMBER/KELLY WAS SO SWEET AND GORGEOUS..I TOLD HER SHE LOOKED LIKE MARILYN MONROE…THEY WERE FUN TO WATCH AND LEARN FROM…WE REHEARSED A FEW TIMES, THEY DISCUSSED CAMERA SHOTS, AND THEN WE WENT BACK TO OUR TRAILERS…AND WAITED FOR THE NEXT TIME TO SHOOT AFTER THEY SET UP CAMERAS. I DIDN’T TURN ON TV OR ANYTHING…JUST KEPT GOING OVER LINES, AND THE NOTES THE DIRECTOR GAVE ME. I LOVED HIM. HE ACTUALLY CALLED ME AT HOME AND TOLD ME WHY I WAS CAST, AND HIS CLARITY AND ENERGY AND JOY WERE CONTAGIOUS.

WE WERE CALLED BACK AND DID THE SCENE MANY TIMES, MANY DIFFERENT WAYS, AND MANY DIFFERENT CAMERA SHOTS…THEN WHEN IT WAS TIME FOR THE CAMERAS TO FOCUS ON MY REACTIONS…IT WAS LUNCH..OHHHHHHHH…HAD TO WAIT FOR OVER AN HOUR. THE DIRECTOR HAD GREAT IDEAS ABOUT DIFFERENT TAKES, BUT WHEN THE BOSS OF THE SHOW ARRIVED TO WATCH, HE ASKED ME TO DO IT ‘BITCHY’…WELL THAT WON THE TAKE…SO WE CONTINUED IN THAT STYLE… IT WAS FUN…FAST…AND WHEN I HUNG UP MY OUTFIT, SIGNED MY CONTRACT, AND TOOK OFF THE KILLER SHOES, I LEFT PARAMOUNT STUDIOS, LOOKING TO MY RIGHT,WHERE EDDIE MURPHY WAS FILMING HIS NEW MOVIE, AND TO MY LEFT WHERE ‘EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS’ AND ‘MONK’ WERE BEING SHOT.. AND SO MUCH HISTORY ON THIS LOT… AND I THANKED GOD FOR THIS GIFT, FOR THIS GREAT DAY, 5 HOURS OF BEING HERE, AND I GRABBED A REFRESHING DIET PEPSI FROM CRAFT SERVICES, A BAG OF SKITTLES, AND DROVE HOME…WITH MY BRIGHT RED LIPSTICK AND HEAVY FOUNDATION..

2 HOURS LATER I MET MY HUSBAND TIM, AND HOWARD TUCKER FOR FURTHER CELEBRATIONS AND CATCHING UP AT THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY IN PASADENA. IT WAS SO NICE TO SEE HOWARD, AND TIM AND I FINISHED OUR DINNERS BEFORE HOWARD EVEN HAD 2 BITES OF HIS SALAD..AS HE REGALED US WITH SO MANY INTERESTING STORIES OF FRIENDSHIPS AND CONNECTIONS, AND HOW JERSEY BOYS HAS TOUCHED AND BONDED SO MANY PEOPLE…AND NEW FRIENDSHIPS HAVE BLOOMED FROM THIS SHOW…AND IT WAS JUST A REALLY NICE WAY TO END A ADVENTUROUS DAY, AND WE SHARED MY PICK OF BANANA CREAM CHEESECAKE (I LOVE THE WHIP CREAM AND THE BANANA PART CUZ THAT WAS WHAT I HAD WHEN TIM BROUGHT ME THERE ON MY BDAY WHEN WE WERE DATING)… AND HOWARD DROVE OFF AND WAS TO MEET SOME JBOYS FRIENDS FROM THE WEST COAST TODAY…ANYWAY, THAT WAS MY FRIDAY…NOT SURE YET WHEN IT AIRS…BUT IT WAS FUN…AND THAT’S A WRAP!

Wow, Jen, what a great entry and thanks for the kind words. Thought not eating the salad too quickly might compensate for the banana cream cheesecake….didn’t happen..hotel scale shows a three pound gain! And waddayamean, we “shared” the cheesecake?? I needed a magnifying glass to see the size of your piece–it was smaller than Nick Massi’s hotel soap!

Loved hearing about your shoot too. Anxious to check out the actress who looks like Marilyn Monroe. You are always so complimentary, I’m wondering if I look more like Marilyn than she does…to be determined when we have our “Nip/Tuck” party the night of your airing!

Great you’re getting used to the 4-inch heels. Now we can add some Tina Turner to your next cabaret show…move over, Helen Reddy and Anne Murray. Time to pass the torch to the new kid on the block anyway.

Congrats too with Les Miz. Hoping to make it out to see you in person. Would love a pic with you, Rosie, me, and JLY…no then again, could be a challenge finding you and JLY in the pic…

Thanks again, Jen. It was a great evening. Waiting for Wanda to let us know if she is able to rent Radio City in NYC for your premiere airing of “Nip/Tuck”.

    Hey Jen,

Sounds like you had a wonderful day & evening. After a great taping, dinner with two wonderful men, and the cheese cake, who could ask for more.

We look forward to seeing your spot air. So they wanted bitchy….sort of an even tougher version of Mary, huh?. Eveytime I listen to the JB’s sound track, I still laugh at the lines you & John exchange when Mary & Frankie discuss the spelling of Valli. The character & mouth of Mary is so not you, but you are such a wonderful actress it is so believable. You are the most loving & sweet person I know, to hear those words out of your mouth( even just in character) makes me chuckle.

Keep us posted on its air date. Miss ya.

    Much love & hugs,
    Stacey, Pete, Diana & Peter

Thanks for taking us along on the “Journey of a Guest Spot”! It was so detailed…can’t wait to check out the hair, lipstick, wardrobe & shoes on NIP/TUCK.

I hope Howard represented the East coast well and gave you all our best wishes. What am I saying? Of course he did…Howard is THE JB ambassador!

    Jen,

Just love reading about your new experience and we wish all the best and more parts… if you want them. We’ve never seen Nip/Tuck, but we will be sure to record the episode you are in. You have to give all of us the heads up on the air date.

Love seeing your photos with Tim and Howard, it makes us still feel connected. How lucky Howard gets to be with you.

We miss you and we look forward to hearing more from you.

    Love to you and Tim,

    Norene and John

What a blessing that you booked N/T. From the sound and look of your character’s wardrobe, you were going to be a person very different from the real you. One of those power type casting directors, a very, very powerful one. Sounds like you had a blast with Julian McMahon and Kelly Carlson. Hope this leads to more TV/Film work for you. You are always very positive, kind with the people you work with.

Glad to hear you had a wonderful time, Tim and you with Howard Tucker. Had to chuckle about the dinner and dessert. Poor HT could not keep up with you two. And your piece of BC pie was the size of NM ‘s soap?! I love Cheesecake Factory too, love the chocolate mousse one!

Keep us posted on what is going on, I do read, just not have had a chance to comment. Pleased as punch that things are going yours and Tim’s way! God Bless, Blessed Be!

    Hey Jen,

Just remembered this & thought you may want to try it. Next time you go to a TGIFriday’s…get the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake for dessert. Pete & I went out to one recently & I had it….words can’t describe it. But If you like cheesecake it is heaven. To anyone who tries it…ENJOY.
