JLY AND I ARE BACK TOGETHER

AND NOW FOR SOME GOOD NEWS. THE CAR IS IN THE SHOP, WE HAVE A NICE RENTAL CAR, THE INSURANCE IS PAYING FOR IT ALL EXCEPT THE DEDUCTIBLE…YIPES.

I HAVE A COOL LA AGENT, WHO I LOVED MEETING FRIDAY .

ON LEAVING CHURCH SUNDAY, I CHECK MY MESSAGES, AND STEVE ORICH OUR ORCHESTRATOR FOR ALL THE JERSEY BOYS PRODUCTIONS, REFERRED ME TO THE CASTING DIRECTOR OF LES MISERABLES AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL. I TRIED CALLING MY NY AGENT LAST WEEK, BEFORE MEETING THE ONE HERE..AND SUGGESTED GETTING ME IN AS I HAD WORKED WITH THIS DIRECTOR AND DONE THE SHOW AS EPONINE…BACK IN THE DAY, AS THEY SAY…NEVER HEARD A THING.

SO STEVE ORICH SAYS YOU HAVE TO GO OVER THERE TODAY, THE DIRECTOR AND MUSICAL DIRECTOR, KEVIN STITES WHO IS AMAZING!!!!!…ARE REALLY EXCITED TO SEE YOU.

I RUN HOME, AS TIM VISITS SOME HOMEBOUND ELDERLY PEOPLE AFTER CHURCH, GET DRESSED,SING THRU SOME SONGS.. WE GO TOGETHER.. THEY GET ME IN,RIGHT BEFORE THEIR LUNCH..RICHARD JAY ALEXANDER, THE DIRECTOR, POPS UP INTRODUCES ME TO ALL IN ROOM, GUSHES ABOUT MY WORK IN JERSEY BOYS AND THEIR ALL SO KIND,,, WE CHIT CHAT FOR AWHILE AND THEY SAY ‘WHAT A RE YOU GOING TO SING FOR US?” WELL ALL THE PREVIOUS ACTORS WERE SINGING ALL THESE BEAUTIFUL,LEGIT SONGS..AND SCALES ON THE PIANO, AND EVEN SONGS FROM LES MIZ… I SAID” I’D LIKE TO SING SOMETHING SERIOUS FOR YOU” THEY KINDA GO.’ALRIGHT’ AND WE BREAK INTO “WE’RE MOVING ON UP” FROM THE JEFFERSON’S, AND MY CABARET…THEY ALL START LAUGHING… AND I’M JUST SINGING WITH GLEE, AFTER 3 LINES HE YELLS ‘CUT’ ‘DO YOU REALLY WANT THE JOB, WE CAN’T OFFER YOU A ROLE CUZ THEY’VE BEEN CAST IT ‘S JUST THE COMPANY…BUT IT’S GOING TO BE A FUN 2 WEEKS AN AWESOME CAST??” I YELL YES!!!!!!!!!!! AND I SAID,” DARN I WAS WARMING UP FOR COSETTE (RIGHT NOT A SOPRANO) AND I PUT ON THOSE CHER RUBBER BANDS AROUND MY EARS TO PULL BACK THE WRINKLES… ANYWAY…

I KNEW THAT JLY WAS MARIUS.. BUT I COULDN’T SAY ANYTHING.. I ONLY WISH I COULD REPRISE MY ROLE AS EPONINE, WELL EPONINE ALL GROWN UP…LOL..SO WE COULD SING TOGETHER.. THE ONLY ROLES I ‘D BE RIGHT FOR WOULD BE HER MOM, MADAME T AND THAT’S ROSIE O’DONNELL WHO WILL BE PERFECT!! AND FANTINE IS MELORA HARDIN FROM THE OFFICE..

SO THAT WAS THE MOST FUN AND EASIEST AUDITION I’VE HAD..AND GOT THE JOB ON THE SPOT..SO IF YOU’RE IN TOWN AUGUST 8(OUR ANNIVERSARY BY THE WAY), 9TH OR 10TH..IT SEATS 18,0000. YAHOO!!!!

    Hey Jen,

Ok I will write two posts here. First I am so glad that you are alright after the car accident. God was right there with you.

Second…great news that you will be working with John again, even if only for a little while. I had to laugh when you said you sang the Jefferson’s theme for the audition. Pete has worked with Sherman Hemsley & still keeps in touch with him. He is looking to get another show together with him. Sherman is a real sweetie.

Well best of luck with the show in Aug. Talk to ya soon.

    Love,Stacey

    Jen,
I am so happy for you! I have a couple things to tell you, too. I was in NYC this weekend (actually still, since I’m sitting waiting to board my flight.) Anyway, I missed seeing you – especially since I did know when you’d be doing something again! I really hope I can come in August, it would be such a treat!

P.S. I’m so glad everything is alright with you and that Tim is home, now. I hate driving, thank God for all the guardian angels who watch over us!

Last night I went to sleep and dreamt about you, me and JLY. The vibe was out there and cosmically I got it. Sat this morn and could not figure it out until I read this blog. GKW

    Hi, Jen,

So glad you are okay. That’s the most important thing – you were not hurt.

I am working on Buz to see if we can come out to the Hollywood Bowl in August to see JLY and you. My daughter is hoping to come as well.

That is so great – you and JLY together again – and so soon!

    Love, Irene

Ya know…. this whole me moving to NYC and you doing work in Cali is so not cool! I wish I could see it but those chances are slim to none. Sooo proud of you though! You’ll have a blast!

Break a leg! I wish I could be there in person instead of in spirit so I could cheer you both on!

  11. [...] You can’t keep a great twosome too far apart, can you?! On Jennifer Naimo’s blog, she reports that she will also be in the cast of Les Miserables at the Hollywood Bowl with John Lloyd Young! She has a fun audition story and says it was the easiest one that she’s ever had! [...]

Jen, so glad you are alright after the accident…so scary, though also so protected by God’s guardian angel. Truly He does watch out for us!
I am thrilled by this news of you and JLY together in Les Miserables…and if you read my comment on the JB Blog Forum under the topic of JLY getting this role, two days ago I posted, “I’ll bet Jennifer Naimo will be in the Bowl that night.” How’s that for a little foreshadowing?! LOL Congratulations!

    Jen,

Comment here is for your past 2 postings:

You have to stop scaring all of us, first your elevator incident and now the car. You certainly get our hearts racing. We are so thankful that you are okay, you definitely have an ANGEL sitting on your shoulder and you must have a great relationship with the man above. The photos of your car are shocking, and we thank God that it hit the car where it did. THIS EPISODE PROVES YOU ARE A GREAT DRIVER…. YOU WERE ABLE TO DRIVE WITH YOUR EYES CLOSE AND COME OUT SAFE.

Now for the good news. How great is it that you and JLY will be working together again, what are the chances of that? I only wish we flew so we could see the both of you. We’ll have to rely on the other JNM and JLY fans to report back.

Yikes!! 18,000 seats… you and JLY can easily fill them.

    Our love to Tim.
Have a SAFE day, week, month, year!!!!

    Jen,

Congrats on getting to be in Les Miz with JLY! It will be great seeing the two of you on the same stage again.

Thank God for His protection toward you in that accident and you came out okay. God is good and full of grace. :)

    Take care.

    Hi Jen!

    This is AWESOME!
I have heard it many times that for every “negative” in life (your recent car incident)…there is always a “positive” to follow…your unexpected role in Les Miserables!

Looking forward to seeing both you & JLY in August at the Hollywood Bowl…my tickets are purchased & in the mail…flu season has ended…and hopefully American Airlines doesn’t have any hiccups that weekend!

    You Are the Bomb!

Jennifer, I’m going to try to hook up a business trip in early August to see you guys in Les Miz. Love the audition scenario..I agree “Movin’ on Up” should be your theme, and should be what Kevin Eubanks plays as you come around to meet Jay Leno. Should anyone insist on a truly serious number, though, your “Angie Baby” still echoes through my head months after your shows. And if something from Jersey Boys: “My Eyes Adored You”.

Hey, any chance if I do make it out, we can get a pic with Rosie sort of cradling you and me cradling JLY for contrast!! Maybe not, though–my friend Pam tells me she just saw Rosie in “No, No, Nanette”, and that she’d trimmed down a bit.
